Your next adventure is here

Try a sample quest

Archie, the Test Prep Coach, is an owl who helps your child read, think and solve. When they are stuck, Archie never hands over the answer. He asks a question that sends them back to find it themselves.

Grades 3 to 8

Every question set out like New York’s state tests: a passage or a problem, and four choices.

Asks, never tells

When your child is stuck, Archie points back to the text and asks a question.

Safe by design

No ads, no trackers, and no place in Archie’s record of your child for their name.

Each kind of question has its own thinking job.

Seven jobs, from bbplayland’s own Grade 3–8 test strategies. Your child sees the job before a practice quest starts, and Archie can send them back to one letter of it. The checks at the start and the end, which measure progress, have none.

A real moment, word for word

This is what “asks, never tells” sounds like.

A grade 3 reader picks: “He moves in a crooked line.”
Archie asks: “You picked ‘crooked line’. But right before that phrase, his blades go scritch scritch scritch, not swish swish. Is a scritch scritch sound a fast sound or a slow sound?”
Then the reader: Goes back to the story, finds the clue, and gets it right - on their own.
